Usha Mangeshkar is a renowned playback singer who is more popularly known as the younger sister of the two singing stalwarts – Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale.
Born in Madhya Pradesh into a family of music tradition, to parents – Father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar (himself a well-known musician) and Shevanti Mangeshkar. Besides Lata and Asha, she also has two other siblings – Brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar and another sister Meena Khadikar.
She was only six years old when her father passed away. At this time, Lata took responsibility of the family, started acting in a few films, thus providing for the siblings. In her early days, the family moved from different places like Pune and finally settled into Mumbai.
Because of the initial difficulties, Usha Tai did not attend schooling much and started playback singing at the age of 18 in the year 1953.
Her hobbies include painting and she has learned it for a few years at the Arlekar’s Art Academy. Some of her very popular Hindi songs include the following :
