Jimmy Uso shocked the WWE Universe after betraying his own twin brother, Jey Uso. This occurred during the Tribal Combat main event at SummerSlam for the Undisputed Universal Championship. The fans were left wondering as to why Jimmy made the baffling choice after the pair had just recently been set free from the shackles of their cousin, Roman Reigns.
On the most recent episode of SmackDown, the closing segment saw the former tag team champions come face-to-face. First, Jimmy had to make it clear to the Tribal Chief that his reason for betraying his brother had nothing to do with him. Afterwards, Main Event Jey came out and demanded answers from his twin. Jimmy stated that jealousy was not a factor in the decision he made.
On the contrary, he revealed that he was afraid to lose Jey. Jimmy Uso said that he didn’t want his brother to become “corrupted” if he became Tribal Chief. “I would never be able to live and watch you if you became an egotistical, lying, and manipulative a**hole like Roman Reigns”, said Jimmy. However, Jey Uso didn’t buy this explanation, as he ended up superkicking his former partner. The 27-year-old shocked the world when he revealed that he was leaving the WWE.
Following the segment, it was conspicuous that Jimmy wouldn’t be returning to The Bloodline or with Roman Reigns. It also appears that The Usos will remain separated for the foreseeable future as well. Recent rumors suggested backstage officials were pushing for the brother vs. brother match at WrestleMania.
Did Rikishi spoil Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso match at Payback?
Rikishi has yet to be involved in the ongoing Bloodline saga. It won’t be surprising considering three of his sons, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa, have played vital roles in the entire storyline. At SummerSlam, things took an ugly turn as The Usos had an implosion during the Tribal Combat bout.
This led to online speculation that a match between the two is inevitable. There were conflicting reports on the exact date and time of the event. However, the Hall Of Famer’s recent Instagram post may have spoiled an upcoming battle. A poster depicting an advertisement for a fan greet and meet also had “Come meet Rikishi before he referees at Payback”, written on it.
The Stamford-based promotion has not yet been officially confirmed. It will be interesting to watch if the Samoan legend referees his own sons’ fight. Many in the WWE Universe have anticipated this scenario for years.
