MERIDIAN, Idaho (KBOI) -- A Meridian Police officer is facing an internal affairs investigation after a video was posted to YouTube showing the officer speeding by another motorcyclist on Interstate-84 on his way to a traffic stop.

In the video, a motorcyclist wearing a helmet cam, records the Meridian officer stopped under an overpass. Then, seconds later, the officer is apparently seen lane splitting in the far right hand lane -- racing to catch up to another vehicle for a traffic stop.

"I glanced again into the right mirror and seen him approaching at extremely dangerous speeds within my lane so I swerved out of the way, knowing my left blind spot was open," Jeff, who shot the video, told KBOI 2News in an email.

Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea of Meridian Police told KBOI 2News that the officer is still on duty while the internal investigation is underway.

"It appears the officer is operating the police (motorcycle) in a manner inconsistent with our expectations," Basterrechea said. "We have initiated an internal investigation and will reserve judgment until a full investigation is complete."
