Best Weapons for Hu Tao
Hu Tao has some good weapon options, including some 4-star weapons. There are the best weapons for Hu Tao:
Weapon | Description |
Staff of Homa | Hu Tao’s signature and her best-in-slot weapon. Staff of Homa is arguably the best polearm in the game, and it is considered the go-to weapon choice for every single DPS polearm character. The weapon has good base ATK, high CRIT DMG stats, increases the wielder’s HP by 20%, and provides ATK bonus when the character’s HP is under 50%. |
Staff of Scarlett Sands | Staff of the Scarlet Sands is Hu Tao’s second-best weapon because of its high CRIT Rate. Although this weapon’s passive requires Hu Tao to run a different EM build, it shines when Hu Tao is properly kitted. |
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear | Can be obtained from the Standard Banner and be used on Hu Tao if there aren’t any other good 5-star weapons. |
Deathmatch | This 4-star polearm can be obtained from the Battle Pass but can be an excellent weapon because of its decent CRIT Rate stats. The passive gives a decent ATK% bonus as well. |
Dragon’s Bane | Great weapon that gives a lot of Elemental Mastery for Hu Tao, and the weapon’s passive gets better with each refinement. |
Hu Tao Build Type: Main DPS
Hu Tao is an on-field Main DPS character and requires good Hydro and Cryo support characters in her party. There are some of Hu Tao’s best team compositions:
- Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Yelan/Furina + Zhongli
- Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Albedo + Zhongli
- Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Kazuha + Bennett
- Hu Tao + Furina + Kazuha + Zhongli/Diona
- Hu Tao + Rosaria + Kazuha + Diona
Hydro characters such as Xingqiu, Yelan, and Furina are essential for Hu Tao in Vaporize team comps. They will increase Hu Tao’s damage when she uses her charged attacks or Elemental Burst on enemies. I suggest using two Hydro characters in the party because they will constantly apply Hydro on enemies for Hu Tao to make her attacks on them for the most vaporized damage.
Besides Vaporize teams, Hu Tao can also be used in some Melt and Burgeon teams; however, her damage in those team comps is not currently viable.
Hu Tao Playstyle
Hu Tao’s playstyle requires her to stay on the field as much as possible. Firstly, you must cast the elemental skills and bursts of your support characters so they can start applying Hydro or Cyro on enemies.
After that, you need to cast Hu Tao’s elemental skill, “Guide to Afterlife” which will make her lose a portion of her HP and turn normal attacks infused with Pyro, damaging enemies with melt or vaporized reactions.
It should be mentioned that Hu Tao’s elemental skill has an uptime of 9 seconds and a cooldown of 16 seconds, so you will have a downtime of 7 seconds before you can cast her skill again.
Hu Tao’s elemental burst, “Spirit Soother,” casts a blazing spirit that deals high AoE pyro damage. Her elemental burst has a really good damage multiplier, and after hitting an enemy, Hu Tao will regenerate some of her HP. It is recommended that you use Hu Tao’s elemental burst only after
