Tahliah Debrett, known professionally as FKA twigs, is an English singer, songwriter, dancer and actress. She was born 17 January 1988 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire where she became a backup dancer after moving to South London at age 17. Her musical debut was in 2012 with the album EP1. Her first studio album, LP1 (2014), reached number 16 in the UK Albums Chart and number 30 on the US Billboard 200.
FKA twigs worked with the likes of Arca on her debut album “LP1,” with his avant-garde beats complementing her ethereal vocals, creating a distinctive sound that earned the album a Mercury Prize nomination. Her relationship with musician and actor Shia LaBeouf led to the creation of the short film “Music for Misfits,” further highlighting her multidisciplinary artistic abilities. For the song “Cellophane,” she teamed up with electronic producer Michael Uzowuru, resulting in a Grammy-nominated performance that showcased her emotional depth and vocal range.
