Most celebrities spend hours a week lifting, running, jumping, and squatting with a trainer — but not Liz. "I don't exercise, but I am very active," she admitted to Harper's Bazaar in 2019. "Getting older is inevitable, but that doesn't have to mean becoming less active. As you age, your body starts to slow down and tasks that used to be easy now require a bit more effort to accomplish. On top of that, your metabolism slows down, causing you to gain weight. You lose muscle mass, your cardiovascular fitness declines, and your reflexes aren't as sharp as they once were. While this might sound like a doomsday diagnosis, there is some good news: It's possible to slow down the aging process through regular exercise," reports the Mayo Clinic.
"I believe in gentle exercise and lots of it," the model and swimwear designer told Us Weekly in October 2018. "So I believe in being active, going for walks, stretching, maybe a little yoga or a little Pilates. But I don't like high impact, high energy sports. I don't actually think they do you much good. As long as you get your heart rate to the rate you need it to get, which is a fast walk. But you need to do a bit of it."
Liz revealed to us that she walks every single day and tries to hit a whopping 10,000 steps in addition to stretching. "And then sometimes I do a bit more, but that's enough for me really." "The faster, farther and more frequently you walk, the greater the benefits," says the Mayo Clinic. "For example, you may start out as an average walker, and then work your way up to walking faster and walking a mile in a shorter amount of time than an average walker, similar to power walkers. This can be a great way to get aerobic activity, improve your heart health and increase your endurance while burning calories."
Hurley revealed to The Cut that she starts her day off hot water, often with apple cider vinegar in it. "It tastes disgusting. I can't face it every day, so I'll put it in my hot water maybe every other day. It's good for your metabolism," she said. She eats her bigger meals earlier in the day. "I rarely skip breakfast and always eat lunch but the lighter my evening meal the better," she told Healthy Living. She also avoids junk food. "I really try to go out of my way to eat an apple for a snack instead of a cookie," she said, adding that she avoids "processed and junk foods."
While you will likely find her fueling up on water, Liz revealed to The Cut alcohol. "You can't look good if you're not healthy, and diet plays a big part. You can't smoke and have too much alcohol," she said.
