Filomeno's workouts are based around strength over being skinny. "I like lifting weights," she says. "I avoid cardio since I'm petite. So I want to gain muscle… Our bodies react quickly if we are active, work out, or have a healthy lifestyle."
Filomeno wants to set a good example of self-acceptance for other women who look like her. "I've always been comfortable with my body because I know there are people here who are petite like me and they say, 'Hey, you're so skinny, like this, like that…' I want to be the image for them that it's okay to have this kind of body, as long as you know you are healthy inside and out. That's the most important thing," she says.
Filomeno says she tried unhealthy diets before, but now she focuses on hard work and good health. "What worked for me is that it really takes hard work," she says. "I don't wake up with my body like this. We really work hard for it. I'll eat and then I'll work out and then I'll eat. That's how I really am."
Filomeno has always struggled to gain weight, so she was happy to add a few pounds during the pandemic lockdowns. "It's not only obvious but I've gained more flesh this quarantine which I'm happy about, because I'm struggling to gain weight, because my metabolism is too strong," she says. "Now, I'm happy that I've achieved my goal weight."
Filomeno doesn't believe in diets, but she avoids pork because of how it makes her feel. "I don't want to deprive my body. That's why I work out," she says. "What you feed yourself also needs to be healthy. I make sure it's balanced. You know that feeling when you eat junk food? I really avoid pork. That's what I avoid."
