BPD arrests man for returning counterfeit headphones, possible connection to other thefts

According to Boise Police, officers responded to a retailer at Eagle and Chinden for a report of fraud in progress on Monday at 9:30 a.m. The suspect, 39-year-old Song Chen from Rancho Cucamonga, California, was detained at the scene.

An investigation found Chen was accused of returning two sets of counterfeit headphones on Sunday. Evidence also showed Chen returned to the store on Monday and attempted to return two more counterfeit headphones.

Boise Police continued to investigate, and the suspect, Song Chen, was arrested on four counts of felony grand theft and one count of felony commercial burglary. Chen was booked into the Ada County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing into possible connections to additional similar thefts in nearby stores and states.
