BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Police are searching for a suspect who stole a car, started a car chase with police, ditched the car and ran away into a Boise suburb Friday afternoon.

Boise Police say the car was reported stolen near Emerald Street and Orchard Street around 3:43 p.m. Friday. Officers attempted to pull the car over in a traffic stop, but the driver quickly sped away.

Public safety concerns stopped BPD from continuing the car chase. However, they say other officers watched the car pull over near the intersection of Kirkwood Road and Rand Street. The driver hopped out and ran away into neighbors' yards.

At that time, Boise Police set up perimeters to find the suspect, who is a light-skinned man at 190 lbs and is 5'10" tall. BPD says he was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt.

Please pass along any information to non-emergency dispatch at (208) 377-6790 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
