Best PC Settings for High FPS in Starfield

July 2024 · 3 minute read

With the release of Starfield, some players want to enjoy the game with better performance rather than overload their graphics card with stunning visuals.

Playing Starfield with lagging and stuttering can make an amazing game turn into a horrifying one, which is why it is best to adjust your settings to have maximum FPS or enough to enjoy yourself.

There are often two ways you can play this out, which is to enjoy the game with the best performance or mix things up to have a combination of visuals and performance.

Below is a list of the available options that you can change when you open the Display Settings in Starfield:

Best Settings for Highest FPS

For the best FPS, this is mainly already a given as you will simply need to lower the Graphics Preset to low, which will adjust everything for you.

If you are not necessarily running a potato PC, you can adjust some of the settings and we would recommend going for Dynamic Resolution with at least 60% or 70%.

This will ensure that not only do you get a more stable FPS, but you also get to enjoy some of the visuals that the game intended for you to enjoy.

Mixed Settings for Visuals and Performance

For decent graphics and good performance, you can set the Graphics Preset to low and adjust the following:

Turning the settings above to medium will provide you with decent graphics with little cost to performance.

Render Resolution is suggested to be at 70% as this is set even if you set the Graphics Preset to ULTRA, which is mainly best to be on the safe side.

With Dynamic Resolutions, you can maintain good graphics that adjust only when necessary to keep the game running smoothly when there is excess activity/load.

Motion Blur is completely optional and VSync is recommended to avoid putting too much pressure on your graphics card.

Verdict

Starfield has only been released but the game has proven to take quite a toll on those with older graphics cards but that’s not something to be worried about.

If you adjust your graphics settings, any modern PC should be able to run the game smoothly, allowing you to enjoy it.

Not all graphics cards are the same and more components play bigger parts, so it’s best to stick with a graphics preset and start adjusting the other options from there.
