BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — It's been a soggy start to Tuesday in the Treasure Valley. Most areas in the valley are reporting 0.50-1.00" of precipitation in the past 24-hours. A great amount of moisture for our storm system that is pushing east this morning. The mountain areas are showing as much as 6-9" of new snow as well, continuing the active pattern that we saw for much of last month. The Boise Airport is reporting 0.59" of rain in the past 24-hours, and the BSU Campus is reporting a whopping one inch of rain. We're now sitting at 0.69" for the airport just three days into May, the airport will typically pick up 1.39" of moisture during the entire month.
Most of the moisture is moving south and east of the valley this morning. Some lingering rain and snow showers will continue over the Central Mountains and the Southern Highlands. Winds will stick around throughout the day with winds of 15-35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph southeast of Boise. A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Upper Treasure Valley through 3 pm Tuesday afternoon. Skies will become mostly clear by this afternoon and temperatures will reach the low 60's.
Dry weather will settle in for Wednesday under high pressure and temperatures will warm to near 70 degrees in the lower valleys. Another round of active weather is slated for the end of the week and will likely continue into the weekend as well. Moisture will increase from the southwest Thursday afternoon with showers and thunderstorms expected for all areas. On Friday, rain is likely with only the highest elevations seeing snow. Snow levels will then fall over the weekend as cooler air arrives. Daytime highs will drop into the 50's in the Treasure Valley on Saturday and Sunday. Snow levels could be down to 3,500-4,500 feet on Sunday as well. Stay tuned.
